A Bard's Tale in an Age of Electronic Media

HE NOBLE BARD. A profession dating back through the ages, spreading narrative and verse through speech and pen alike. But in today's era of technology and social media, is there still a place for the tales spun by bards?

The answer to that question is at the heart of why I have chosen to study video game design.

I AM A WRITER, and a storyteller... a bard, if you will.  And while I love to write short stories, poems, and even novels, in this electronic age, I have decided it would be best to learn to write in the electronic media of video games.

After all, what is a video game of today if not an interactive story?  It is a medium practically invented for a bard.  It seems a natural fit for me, not only because I enjoy writing stories, but also because I enjoy designing gameplay.  I've designed numerous games in various stages of completion from tabletop board games, to trading card games, and even some digital games.  And infused in each of them is my bardic love of storytelling and writing.

I also enjoy producing audio and visual media, such as YouTube videos.  While not skills I intend to make into my profession, I do enjoy exercising them as a hobby, producing comedic video and audio projects, as well as sound clips from my game design projects.
